The Annual Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Lecture Series & Ambedkar Chetna Awards Night (2019)
In the book ‘Caste Matters’ Suraj Yengde unearths the rigid and discriminatory caste system. In addition to delivering his lectures at UBC, Suraj Yengde will participate in Round Table Discussion with Ambedkar Reading Group at Simon Fraser University, garland the Bust of Dr. Ambedkar and pay his respects, and will participate in a panel discussion with youth from across the lower mainland.

Awards Night:
In partnership with Indo-Canadian Times Newspaper, Chetna Association of Canada will honor change champions who have contributed to social justice, arts and literature, journalism, and attained life time achievements.
As well, Mr. Mohanlal Karimpuri’s two books will be released by Mr. Kuldeep Chumber during the occasion.
Dr. Suraj Yengde
This year’s special guest to deliver the Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Lecture is Dr. Suraj Yengde. He is an inaugural postdoctoral fellow at the Initiative for Institutional Anti-Racism and Accountability, Shorenstein Center on Media, and Politics and Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School. He has published in the field of caste, race, ethnicity studies, and inter-regional labor migration in the global South. Suraj Yengde is an award winning scholar, activist, and author of best seller Caste Matters.
In addition to delivering lectures, Suraj Yengde will participate in Round Table Discussion with Ambedkar Reading Group at Simon Fraser University, garland the Bust of Dr. Ambedakr and pay his respects, and participate in a panel discussion with youth from across the lower mainland.
